The winter session of Jingling Platform: Pre-service teacher development through boundary crossing
On December 14th, 2022, the winter session of Jingling Platform was successfully held online. In this session, we invited professor Yang Luxin, an expert teacher and researcher from Beijing Foreign Language Studies University to give us a talk on pre-service teacher development through boundary crossing. The meeting was hosted by professor Ding Jianning and professor Liu Xuehui from Nanjing Normal University. During her talk, professor Yang took her own teaching and research experience as an example and reflected on the current issues of pre-service language teacher education. She then drew from the theory of boundary crossing to redefine the roles of school, institution and community in facilitating pre-service teachers’ development. Finally, professor Yang interacted with the participating teachers and students, providing them concrete guidance and suggestions. Overall, professor Yang’s talk is very illuminating in providing teachers and students with new insights and understandings of the means of cultivating and becoming an eligible teacher, while also shedding light on pre-service teacher education and practices.
